The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, 866-366-3723, uses a risk-based inspection reporting process for restaurants and other food handlers.

Jimmy G's Beverly Hills Tavern, 710 Old Fritztown Rd. Sinking Spring, October 18. Fail. The Person in Charge did not demonstrate adequate control of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection. An open employee's beverage container was observed in the kitchen food preparation area. Corrected. Small scoops being stored in the drink ice with handle touching the ice. Corrected. Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration at the 3-compartment sinks (for quaternary ammonia products). Loose/torn rubber door gaskets observed on the single-door freezer at the cooking line. The upper right-hand drawer of the 4-drawer cooling unit at the cooking line is in disrepair and does not close properly. The interior of the ice machine in the kitchen, a food contact surface, was observed to have dark residue and was not clean to sight and touch. The soda nozzles in the side server room, food contact surfaces, were observed to have residue and were not clean to sight and touch. Corrected. Observed an accumulation of dust/dirt on the following surfaces: fan at the cooking line in the kitchen, rack that utensils hang on at the cooking line, and on the condenser unit in the kitchen walk-in cooler. Outer door located near the beer walk-in has a gap at the bottom and does not protect against the entry of pests. Working containers (spray bottles) in the bar areas, used for storing chemicals, cleaners taken from bulk supplies, were not marked with the common name of the chemical. Corrected.

Sheetz #273, 4100 Perkiomen Ave. Reading, October 17. Pass. Left-hand door on the large True counter-top refrigeration unit is not closing properly. There is a notable amount of water leaking from the tubing/connections for the self-service soda dispensing unit. There is an accumulation of dirt/debris/other items on the floor under the shelving and equipment throughout the facility. Ceiling tile missing in the back electric panel area, above single service cup storage, needs to be replaced.

B2 Bistro & Bar, 701 Reading Ave. West Reading, Complaint, October 15. Pass. No violations.

Dollar General #4919, 2980 Saint Lawrence Ave. Reading, October 15. Pass. Shelves in the milk and drink refrigeration units in the sales area have an accumulation of dark residue. Plumbing system not maintained in good repair - observed water leaking from an overhead pipe near the back door. Door located in the rear area of the food facility has a gap at the bottom and does not protect against the entry of pests.
